Questions creators ask

What is a UTM link?

A normal link with a few tags on the end, like ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social. Analytics tools such as Google Analytics read the tags and tell you where each visitor came from.

Why should a creator use them?

To know which of your posts actually sends people who buy or sign up, and to show brands proof. A brand will pay more for a creator who can say 'my story sent 412 clicks' than one who can't.

Does Instagram remove UTM tags?

No. Links in your bio, stories and DMs keep their tags. Instagram does open them in its own browser, which is fine for tracking.

Should I use capital letters?

No. Google Analytics treats 'Instagram' and 'instagram' as two different sources. We lowercase everything for you.

My link is too long. What now?

Long links are fine in bios and stories because people tap, they don't read. If you want something short and clean, a link shortener or a Vyrel page link does the job.
