How much tax do creators pay in India?
Under the new regime for FY 2026-27, taxable income up to ₹12 lakh is effectively tax-free thanks to the rebate. Above that, slabs run from 5% to 30%, plus 4% cess. Business income doesn't get the ₹75,000 standard deduction that salaried people get.
What is the presumptive 50% scheme?
Professionals with receipts up to ₹50 lakh (₹75 lakh if almost all payments came digitally) can declare half their receipts as profit and skip detailed books. Whether influencers count as professionals isn't settled, and some CAs use the 6%/8% business scheme instead, so check with yours.
Do I have to pay advance tax?
If you'll owe ₹10,000 or more after TDS, yes. Pay 15% by 15 June, 45% by 15 September, 75% by 15 December and 100% by 15 March. On the presumptive scheme you can pay it all by 15 March. Late payment costs 1% a month interest.
When do creators need GST registration?
When your total receipts in a year cross ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in special-category states). That includes AdSense and other foreign income. Brand deals then carry 18% GST; AdSense is an export and is zero-rated if you file a Letter of Undertaking.
Is gifted product income taxable?
Yes. Products you keep after a collab are income at market value. Brands deduct 10% TDS on them once they cross ₹20,000 from one brand in a year.
How do I claim the TDS brands cut?
Check Form 26AS or your AIS on the Income Tax portal. TDS shown there counts toward your tax when you file. If it's more than your tax, you get a refund.
