Instagram allows at most 5 hashtags on a post or Reel. More than that and the post won't publish.

Hashtags help Instagram understand your post; they don't make it go viral. Search the tag on Instagram before using it: if the top posts look nothing like yours, skip it. Avoid #reels, #viral and #explore. Instagram has said they don't help.

Reach is half the job. A Vyrel page turns the people who find you into buyers and subscribers.

Questions creators ask

How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?

Five. Since December 2025 Instagram limits posts and Reels to 5 hashtags, counting the caption and comments together. Above that, the post or comment won't go through.

Which hashtags should I pick?

Mostly specific ones your exact audience follows, one or two active community tags, and at most one huge broad tag. Add your city if you serve local people. Our 'Suggest a mix' button does this for you.

Do hashtags still help reach?

A little. They tell Instagram what the post is about, which helps it show to interested people and in search. Your hook and watch time matter far more.

How many hashtags on YouTube?

Up to 15. If you add more than 15, YouTube ignores all of them. The first three appear above the video title.

Should I use #viral or #reels?

No. They're so crowded that nobody browses them, and Instagram has said generic tags like these don't help.
